The latest group of fixtures saw only 2 teams keeping their unbeaten records, both in Division 2.

At the top of Division 1 Sledgehammers suffered their first defeat of the season, at home to the Eagles. The first quarter saw the lead change hands 4 times with the visitors just edging ahead by 2. Nine unanswered points from the Eagles, towards the end of the second, helped widen the gap to 13 at half time. Sledgehammers narrowed the gap to single figures in the third but Eagles finished the quarter strongly with a 15-9 run and comfortably held on in the final quarter, though the home side were left regretting missing 14 foul shots in the match.

Bulldogs are still looking for their first win following an overtime defeat at Lasers. They were ahead for much of the first half as Billy Smith hit 22 personal. Lasers had much the better of the third quarter and were 15 ahead at one stage and in a game-winning position. However, Bulldogs hit back in the final quarter to send the game into overtime. The extra period saw Bulldogs unable to hit a field goal and despite hitting 7 from 8 at the foul line, Lasers just edged it by 2 to give them their first win of the campaign.

In Division 2 Kings and Jammers had comfortable wins to keep their unbeaten records intact. Kings eventually saw off Lynx though it was only a 5-point game at half time. With a squad of just 8, Lynx tired in the third quarter and Kings extended their lead to more than 20. Kings continued to pile on the points in the final quarter, though Lynx should take some comfort that James Vincent finished on a game-high 41.

Jammers turned up at Tigers with just 5 players but had a double-figure lead by the end of the first quarter. Jo Cumming gave Tigers some hope with 4 long-range efforts  but half time saw the visitors ahead by more than 20 and into a game-winning position. Jammers’ win sets things up nicely for a meeting with Kings in the next batch of fixtures.
