This year has seen England Basketball take over the old English Schools competitions format for the first time. School teachers who organise existing successful area leagues have been supported by new competition managers and though some teething problems remain, which we will work hard at to try and eliminate for next year, on the whole it's been a good year with some exciting county finals still to come. Dates for these finals are listed below:
The winners of the year 9's and 11's county final,s both boys and girls, will go through to the next round at regional level.
There is also a year 10 competition, however, Suffolk Schools chose not to run this locally but keen schools have entered the direct entry competition with England Basketball so we will keep you informed if any of our schools progress through to further rounds at year 10.
In the boys competition central zone, County Upper must be the favourites in their tie as they face St George school in Bury St. Edmunds. Whilst Ipswich Academy have a tough away game at SEEVIC in Southend.
The u19 girls has also brought together two teams with strong Suffolk connections, County Upper at home to Oaklands Academy in Herts. County, obviously because they are from Bury St Edmunds but also Oaklands since they are head coached by ex Holbrook High pupil Michael Ball and ex County pupil player Lizzy Harrison.
The u19 fixtures must be played in the first week back after half term. Dates, venues and times tba on this website.
